Toronto FC announced Wednesday that the team traded midfielder Tim Regan to New York Red Bulls in exchange for U.S International forward Edson Buddle. Regan was originally acquired in Major League Soccer's (MLS) expansion draft.

Buddle, 25, appeared in 83 games starting 54 times in his first four MLS seasons. In his MLS career, he has collected 79 points on 33 goals and 13 assists, while emerging as one of the league's brightest young talents.

The player earned his first senior cap for the United States on March 29, 2003, coming on as a substitute for Brian McBride in a friendly versus Venezuela. Buddle has also represented the United States at the U-23, U-20 and U-18 levels.
