MLS Experience
2008: Started all 24 games he appeared in logging over 2115 minutes…he made history with his first MLS goal on 09/27/08 at BMO Field striking a shot from just outside the penalty area beating Pat Onstad to salvage a 1-1 with the Houston Dynamo…his second goal game a few games later on 10/11/08 on the road in Dallas in what appeared to be the game winner, FC Dallas star Kenny Cooper would score on a penalty in injury time to give the home side a point in a 2-2 draw…was named the team's Top Defender of 2008.2007: Played 23 games, 22 of them as a starter, logging 1963 minutes, 4th best on the team…made his debut for TFC April 4/25 @ Kansas City…recorded first assist on 6/2 vs Colorado setting up Danny Dichio…next assist came on the road 7/7 @ Chicago setting up Maurice Edu in a 1-1 result…he would hit the "Rookie of the Year" for the final time on 10/4 vs. New York in the team's 2-1 win.
2006: Wynne had an impressive rookie campaign, seeing action in 28 games with 23 starts…recorded three assists on the year, two of which were game-winners. Earned first career point on 7/22 against Kansas City….was named the Red Bulls "2006 Young Player of the Year" for his efforts. Was selected first overall in the 2006 MLS SuperDraft by New York, after NY traded the #5 overall pick and defender Jason Hernandez to Chivas USA for the #1 slot.
International
Has played for a number of U.S. youth squads and was part of the U-20 squad that went to the 2005 World Youth Championship…was a member of 2007 Copa America squad that competed in Venezuela…started first game of the tournament and played the full 90 minutes against Argentina in 4-1 loss, received first cap….called into U-23 squad in late November and participated in 2 friendlies in China…beginning of 2008 named to U.S. MNT training roster…was a member of the 2008 U-23 Men's Olympic team that competed in Beijing, China, the U.S. was eliminated after the first round of play…was called into the MNT FIFA 2010 WCQ squad on 09/06/08 for a game against Cuba…and 10/15/08 for a match against T & T but did not see action in either…attended U.S. MNT training camp in early January of 2009.College
At UCLA, was a M.A.C. Hermann Trophy Semifinalist, NSCAA All-America first team…chosen as one of eleven Soccer America Collegiate MVPs…named to the College Soccer News First Team All-America squad and to the Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the season…Soccer Times "Defender of the Year" and First Team All-American….First Team NSCAA All-Far West Region…First Team All-Pac-10 honoree…spearheaded the Bruin defense into a No. 1 national ranking in shutout percentage (0.70).Personal: Is named after his Father, so his full name is Marvell Wynne II, Mom's name is April…says if he wasn't a soccer player he'd be in school becoming an athletic trainer like Toronto FC's Carmelo Lobue…lists Toronto as his favourite MLS city…Marvell says the best meal he cooks is tacos, and enjoys eating when on a date…his childhood hero was Roy Lassiter…given the chance would like to face Cristiano Ronaldo of Manchester United in a game…is a follower of "Raider Nation" - claiming it's his Dad's fault as to why he like the Oakland Raiders…lists his favourite vacation spot as San Diego - which is also home for him…enjoys listening to T.I….something not many people know about Marvell is that he is 35-40% Native American.
